Completed over a period of 16 weeks, this virtual program is asynchronous, though participants are granted access to a mentor who can assist with coursework. The “learning” portions for CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Security+ will take place over 12 weeks and 8 weeks, respectively, while instructor-led live workshops will be offered twice per week. Participants will have access to additional support through the program’s learning management system.

About Our Program

In partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission, the Mission EDC is hosting a CompTIA certification program, offered free to IT professionals across the Rio Grande Valley. This IT boot camp will teach IT professionals the ins and outs of computer support or cybersecurity, giving them the tools they need to improve quality of services for their respective organizations, retain jobs, and advance their careers in this booming industry.

The Mission Economic Development Corporation is now offering free professional development training for IT professionals in the RGV. Our program, CyberMission IT Boot Camp, is now in its third year and we would like to invite your IT staff to participate. This is a great opportunity to provide valuable education for your IT team, free of charge.

A+ certification

As the industry standard for IT professionals, CompTIA’s A+ certification allows participants to demonstrate baseline security skills, as well as troubleshoot and problem-solve core service and support challenges. For more information about the A+ certification, click below.

Security+ certification

This certification course provides the baseline skills necessary for participants to perform core security functions and pursue a career in IT security. For more information about a CompTIA Security+ certification, click below for information about the CompTIA Security+ certification.

How long does it take?

Completed over a period of 16 weeks, this virtual program is self-paced, though participants are granted access to a mentor who can assist with coursework. The “learning” portions for A+ and Security+ will take place over 12 weeks and 8 weeks, respectively, while instructor-led live workshops will be offered twice per week. Participants will have access to additional support through the program’s learning management system. 

How do I get started?

To enroll in the A+ certification course participants must first take and pass the Wonderlic aptitude assessment. The deadline for completion of this assessment is June 15, 2022. To enroll in the Security+ course participants must first pass the Wonderlic and/or ITIQ exam.

A program orientation will be held to provide more information regarding coursework and training instruction. As a facilitator of participation in this program, you will also receive communication through our email intake system to keep you updated about the progress of participants at your school.
